Financial Aid and Scholarships

The Tisch School of the Arts offers a limited number of tuition scholarships and graduate assistantships to incoming students. Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence, demonstrated ability, professional promise, and financial need. Evaluations are made by the department you are applying to and by the NYU Office of Financial Aid. Tuition scholarships are funds applied toward the cost of tuition. Graduate assistantships include tuition remission and a stipend, and students selected for these positions fulfill teaching, research, or administrative responsibilities in various departments of the Tisch School of the Arts.

Need-based financial assistance in the form of loans and student employment is available to qualified students through the federal government. Federal assistance is available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only. Graduate students may qualify for the federal Subsidized Stafford Student Loan or the federal Unsubsidized Stafford Student Loan programs. Students may also qualify for student employment through the Federal Work-Study Program.

We have also gathered together information about available scholarships for art students. If you'd like to look at this information click on the Tisch Scholarship Guide.
