Tisch salutes alumnus Joel Coen '78 who, along with brother Ethan, received three of the most prestigious awards, Best Motion Picture of the Year, Achievement in Directing and Best Adapted Screenplay, for their film, No Country For Old Men, at the 2008 Academy Awards. Dean's Council Member Scott Rudin also received an award for Best Motion Picture of the Year with the Coen brothers for his role as Executive Producer. Congratulations to Mr. Coen and Mr. Rudin for their remarkable wins!

This is the second year in a row a Tisch alumnus has earned the Best Motion Picture of the Year award (Martin Scorsese ’64/’68/’92 for The Departed in 2007).

Other recent Academy Award-winning Tisch alumni include Michael Arndt ’87 (Original Screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine in 2007), Thelma Schoonmaker (summer program alumna) (Achievement in Film Editing for The Departed in 2007), John Canemaker ‘76 (Best Animated Short Film for The Moon and The Son: An Imagined Conversation in 2006), Philip Seymour Hoffman ’89 (Best Actor for Capote in 2006), Charles Kaufman '80 (Original Screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in 2005) and Jim Taylor '96 (Adapter Screenplay for Sideways in 2005).
